Basalt content of Concrete Masonry blocks in NSW 1

Does anyone know the typical basalt content of concrete masonry units manufactured in Australia. AS3700 gives higher wall heights for given FRL's for CMU's with >45% basalt, however I find it very difficult to get this information from suppliers.

Basalt is a pretty solid rock material and very dense. It may be that CMUs using basalt are naturally stonger and stiffer. Other than that, I don't know.

Rather than think climate change and the corona virus as science, think of it as the wrath of God. Feel any better?

Ask the suppliers if they make their blocks using 'blue metal' aggregate. That's what the Australian construction industry calls basalt.

thanks, hokie... blue? Basalt in these environs is a fine grained ferromag igneous rock that's basically black...

Thanks Hokie, not sure of the science behind basalt but it's constantly reference in AS3700 so must have favorable fire performance.
