I have an application where we are installing a 20" diameter pipe with pig catcher/launchers at both ends.

We intend to stub in a variety of pipe sizes 8" and 12" branches into this 20" and need to prevent a poly (bullet shaped) pig from getting hung up on the stub ins.

I know that a barred tee is typically used. Can anyone forward who might carry this type of fitting?

Alternately can anyone offer me a suggestion as to a simple inexpensive way to prevent the pig from hanging up. I know that flat bars can be welded across the opening, but I am looking for someones experiences as to methods to accomplish this.

I have an old drawing which I have used in the past as a guide for the fabrication of Barred Tees.

The idea is to prevent your pig/scrapper from getting caught in the branch. This is accomplished by welding 2"x3/8" FB parallel (on end) to you run center line @ 1 1/2" centers. The flatbar must be flush with the ID of your run pipe.

I may be able to scan the drawing and Email it to you if you like.

Good Luck!

IF HENCH can't come up with his dwg., I have a autocad dwg.(2000 version) with those details. I can attach it to and email to you. Just let me know. ...Mark(11echo)

I appreciate your offer. Please send file or scan to dileodm@verizon.net

arbitrader ...One other thing, where I'm working we don't bother to use barred tee's when the branch connections get below half the diameter of the main header. SO, anything below 10" on your 20" main header won't need a barred tee. The experience here is that the poly-pigs can't get through any connections half their dia. Good Luck! ...Mark
