backflow prevention inside building 1

I am a Structural Engineer at a multi-discipline firm. I am requesting some help from our MEP and Municipal Departments for a building restoration job that I am the Project Manager on.

We have been requested to look at backflow prevention for our building after neighboring condos had the outfall pipe back up and flood their parking garage causing a lot of damage. The building is on the beach and ties the stormwater into an outflow pipe that discharges into the Ocean. We have two storm pipes that would need the treatment. One is approximately 16" and one is approximately 12". These pipes are located inside the basement / parking garage.

I want to BS test the check valves that are prposed by our group. I know that normally backflow prevention is usually addressed at the outlet of the outflow, but this is not an option as the outflow is public and we cannot touch it.

Are there valves that are specific to this application? Has anyone installed something similar to what we would need? Would there be a worry that they would corrode, stick closed, cause a problem, etc? Is there a way to prevent them sticking closed?

Have you looked into floating ball check valves?

Duckbill check valves work too, but I'm not sure how large they make them.
