hi......in the compressor station and according to asme b 31.8 ...can we use back weld for all joint?and if i can....what kind of filler metal must be use?6010 or 7018?and can i back weld in this station and use filler metal in down hill position?
thanx

what kind of filler metal can we use?electrod for root pas is 6010 and for filling pass is 7018

First thing you need to do is revise your WPS - the joint is no longer single sided if you add a backweld.
Or alternatively write a separate repair WPS.

DD

7018 would be uphill welded. E7048 is a down hill welding low hydrogen electrode. Welders must be appropriately qualified per API 1104.

my freinds....i dont see accrding to code asme b 31.8..and asme section 9 about how we can use back weld or what kind of electrod must be use for back weld?
