Dear All ,

In ASME B 31.3 -2012 edition, we found that allowable stress for B705 material is availble in TABLE A-1, but for B474-UNS08825 not available.
In this concern, as we have calculated the Thickness of pipe based on the allowable stress for B705. can we accept the deviation of B474 pipe ( both pipes are with 100% X-ray).

Requsting you to share your experience in above case.

Regards,
METMA

You need to review ASME B31.3 for materials which do not have allowable stress values and how you go about using them. ASME Section II does not list SB-474 and would not permit the use in a pressure retaining application - such as pipe or other pressure retaining item.

However, your construction code is B31.3, and you need to familiarize yourself with options for using materials not listed in Table A-1, and not simply consider materials in different specifications equivalent. At this point, if I were the client I would say no to your request.

See if you can certify the B-474 material to B/SB-705.
