B1 & B2 Datums?

I've been tasked with an inspection project with which I have a couple questions. I've attached a couple screenshots of the datums in question. I don't think I've ever seen datums labelled as they are in this print (B1 & B2). More confusingly, datums E and F on the second attachment. I understand the intent of the features being used for datums, but I'm having trouble reconciling the actual callouts. Any ideas or clarification would be great!
