AWS D1.5 FCM Handling Requirements

I am looking for where the code states how fracture critical members shall be handled. I have a situtation where a weldemnt that is a FCM has been handled with a chain and has left chain link 'divots' impressed in the material.

Any direction on where handling requirements are spelled out in D1.5 would be appreciated. Thanks.

Is it in the weld or base metal?

12.9- as recv'd inspection of base metal per ASTM A6
I don't know the spec off-hand for surface roughness.

12.17.6- '...Surfaces shall be ground when necessary to facilitate visual inspection and ndt.'

I'd treat it like an arc strike and flush grind it, followed by visual and MT

C 3.10 Arc strikes are removed by shallow grinding
C 3.8 peening allowable when approved
