Has anyone tried the web version of the AWC joist span software and think it's terrible? The old one was super logical and easy to use. The new one is un-intuitive, slow and just hard to use in general. I talked to the developer and his claim is that they are using a language that will work for phones and web without having to support two different versions. I get that, but stil. Seems like it could be better.

Their whole new site design is pretty meh. Icons, text, and spacings between items are way to large. The new "organization" of publications and downloads is well not organized at all and now a real pain to find anything specific.

I'm making a thing: (It's no Kootware and it will probably break but it's alive!)

Yeah. Just tried it this morning. Felt a bit ham fisted. The new website rollout didn't go so well either - google searches and old bookmarks pointed to broken links and 404 errors...

Perhaps somebody should code their own online joist design software that would be better?

Not much speed/value difference versus using Forte. It does give you a max span which is helpful, but it's only for UDL. More of a quick-tool than a calc-app.

Honestly, if it is #2 SPF or SYP, I can do strength and deflection on my calculator before Forte or AWC even loads.

If it's SPF No.1/No.2 I can probably tell you whether it works without running a real number for most cases.
