Auto-renaming parts in STEP assy files

Hi all,

I have a large assembly STEP file that I opened into Solidworks. Is there a way to automatically rename (in SW or PDMWorks) the parts in each subassembly to append the respective subassembly name to the part name? (hope I worded this question correctly).

So you are wanting to rename the file when you open the STEP file? no you cannot do this. You will have to manually rename it using SW Explorer.
