All,

I have a ASTM A325 bolt. I have attached a picture for reference.

It's marking indicates it is a Type 3 bolt. But I see a letter G underneath. Has anyone seen this before or know what it means? References would be appreciated.

In addition, per AISC the thread length of a 3/4" A325 is 1 3/8". But the bolt I have has 2" of threads. Can the thread dimension be changed from AISC?

Thanks!

Thread maximum length 5" as far as I know G maybe for hot-dip galvanized.

My guess is that the letter G refers to the manufacturer. Usually this is located above the grade callout.

There are tolerances allowed for everything. I don't know what they are for A325 bolts since I do not have the ASME standard that the ASTM A325 standard references for thread length. But I seriously doubt that the tolerance allows 5/8" of extra threading...

Officially the "A" for the A325 is to be on the same line as the numbers, not above. The "G" should be the manufacturer's identification mark. Not sure which manufacturer uses "G".

Is Google getting into A325 bolt production?

See RCSC p16.2-8, ASTM standards stamp for high strength bolts. I recommend a more thorough verification of the bolts you were provided. The thread length can vary, but they must be confirmed if the intend is X bolts.
