Assembly Mirror Issue

Hi All,

I seem to have a problem with mirroring assemblies.
I have 2 models that are mirrored about a plane to create 4 models. i.e. 1 assembly.

2 days ago I used the same models and mirrored successfully and I have this model on back-up to prove that it works.
1 day ago, I installed ST2 - MP7.

Now using the same 2 models SE refuses to mirror stating

“The part cannot be placed make sure it is not a feature library part”

1 week ago I installed office 2010, but that is not the likely culprit
Last night I uninstalled SE ST2 and did a reinstall back to MP5.
The problem still exists
I have created a simple block, saved as an assembly then mirrored successfully.
I was wondering if it’s a registry entry that has been altered
Any ideas would be appreciated

Hi All,

Problem solved.

The issue it seems was due to templates.
For some inexplicable reason when mirroring the assembly the mirror options dialogue was pointing to the wrong templates.
I don’t why or how but it was trying use ISO templates, when my system is exclusively (or so I thought) metric.
When I tried to browse for an alternative template it would seize or ignore my selection.

Cured by full uninstall including registry clean. Full install with metric templates.

Copied over my backed up templates and setting and all is ok.

Very strange. I hope the above makes sense.

I also uninstalled office 2010 and reverted to 2007 just in case, 5hrs work down the gurgler!!

Where is Don when you need him?
