We are looking to create the out line of one of our machines using the assembly hidden line tool but we want it to be associative. I set the view I want, initiate the assembly hidden line function, save the curves that I have extracted to a new part file in Teamcenter and saved the part. Now if I go back to the assembly and change the physical form of a component, or change the position of the component, I then click the update button on the assembly hidden line function and nothing happens. IS there something I'm missing?

Cheers

Si :)

Best regards

This function was never designed to be associative. It was developed many years ago as a way of producing static illustrations of large complex assemblies.

Now it is possible that perhaps you're confused by the use of the term 'associativity' in the user Help files. This is probably a poor use of words since in this case it's really just a way of 'referencing' which set of curves in the Hidden Line file come from what Component in the original Assembly. It was not used in the sense that somehow live links were established between this illustration file and the original Assembly or it's Components.
