I've got an assembly with an family part (part A) inserted.
This assebly i want to use as the template for an assembly family.
Each assembly part family member will have a different family part member (part A).

I've made a simple cube part (part A) with only one dimension changing when selecting a different member. So when I insert this part into an assemby i've got to choose a member. (looks good)

Now when i want to use part A in an assembly family. I figure I've got to make a reference into the spreadsheet which says what instance of part A, I want to use.

I can't find any tutorial for dummies on this subject.......does anybody have example..?

this is actually simpler than maybe expected.

this is your template assy :

template_assy.prt
|-partfamily member A
|-other component-s

replace the "partfamily member A" with the part family template of "partfamily member A"
Like this:

template_assy.prt
|-"partfamily template" ( the parent of A)
|-other component-s

Then in the spreadsheet, you add a column for "partfamily template"
( "partfamily template" will be the header name in the spreadsheet of that column.)
then you replace "partfamily template"-name with "member A" "member B", "member C" in the respective versions/ spreadsheet lines of the template assembly spreadsheet.

Regards,
Tomas
