Hello,

I have some questions for the RT inspection of Carbon Steel 14" OD x 0.75" WT.

I need to achieve 1-2T sensitivity, and would like to know the requirements.

Per Article 2, IQI designation would be 7 and we would have to achieve to see 2T hole.
In regards to the wiresize, what do I need to achieve:
- per Article 2, Wire 4 (1% of 0.75 = 0.0075") or
- per Article 22, SE-747, Table 4 (wire sizes equivalent to corresponding 1T, 2T and 4T holes in various hole type plaques) plaque thickness 0.006" (there is no 0.0075") and 2T hole will give a wire diameter of 0.004, equivalent to Wire 2

Thank you

The obvious answer would to select which quality technique you want to use. Wire type or plaque and reinforcement shim. The wire is a direct measure which does not account specifically for the reinforcement. The reduced hole diameter in the plaque compensates for the standoff attributed to the reinforcement shim. Two methods to achieve the same end.
