ASME SEC.IX WPS filler designation

Is it required to list all possible filler metal options on a WPS per ASME SEC. IX? We have a number of WPSs that list only the filler used on the supporting PQR.

If a different filler is needed/requested, are we able to proceed using a filler that meets all of the ASME IX requirements even if it is not specifically listed on the WPS?

Without even going into the technical side of it ask yourself - " Why do we have WPS's" ?
To provide guidelines for the welders.
Does the welder carry a copy of ASME IX in their back pocket ? - No.
How does the welder know if an alternative filler is acceptable if it is not noted ?

I can understand that in any number of circumstances. Our circumstances are we are manufacturers of engineered products and the engineers work closely with the welders. We provide manufacturing drawings for each assembly where the WPS & filler is specified for each weld. There's no ambiguity for our welders on any given job regarding these aspects. If, for any reason, an alterate filler is needed at that time, it is run back through engineering and the drawing redlined or revised. At no time do we allow the welders to choose what filler to use.

So, is it a requirement that all possible fillers be listed on a WPS?
