The company I'm working has a lot of it's own specifications for manufacturing processes - one of which is a roll threading specification covering things like allowable crest-lap sizes and locations, grain sizes and orientations etc.

Seeing as ASME have specifications for thread forms, I was wondering if any specifications exist that governs the thread-forming process (in this case rolling)?

I've had a bit of a search on the net, and here on the forums, but not found anything useful. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks! Bob

There is a military spec which I think includes some guidance. I think its ff-s-86. The fastener manufacturers often follow it. Check the sps group website data sheets for socket head caps
