Good day,

I was interested on taking a course with ASME to learn how to design and validate a pipe line. But I wonder which ASME standard applies for the application of piping that I will design.

I will validate stainless steel pipe lines that conduct air at pressures around 300psig and temperatures around 1200F. I was thinking about ASME B31.1 or B31.3, but they look too similar to me. which one applies for my application?

Also, If you can recommend to me what course to take, I would appreciate it.

If you are working for power plants you should go for B31.1. If you are into process plants you need to opt for B31.3. See the 'Scope' clause in the beginning of each code.

Pipelines at 1200F? No
Pipelines are B31.4 or B31.8 (and B31.12 if I’m not mistaken).
Piping is (a.o.) B31.1 and B31.3.
