ASME B16.5

Can any of you more experenced guys help me interpet this table.Table 3 (Permissible Imperfections in Flange Facing Finish for Raised Face and Large Male and Female Flanges). I have read it multable times and just need some beter understanding on how to apply this to an acutal flange face defect.

If you are using the 2003 Edition of ASME B16.5 here is what Table 3 means; first column are maximum permitted defects which are radial oriented based on pipe size (Example: think of a CD ROM representing the flange surface where a scratch is oriented from the center to the outer surface of the CD ROM across the grooves (flange serrations for sealing)) and depth of defect is not deeper than the base of the CD ROM grooves. The second column in Table 3 represents the maximum depth of defects which have similar radial orientation in the first column but are deeper than the base of the groove.
