I think this may have been answered before, but it did not turn up in a search... at least my search :)

Under this table, where are Load Cases A and B defined?

You are correct, this has been discussed here is what I found:



It sounds like they are two different cases that are needed in order to find the 'worst case'.

Basically lets introduce some confusion and not explain it so we have something more to write about in the next addition.... :)

I don't know how much background or information you need. Footnote 5 says "All load cases shown for each roof angle shall be investigated."
 
Load case A and B represent two different possiblities for the values of CN. They don't really correspond to a physical meaning.

If you get too flummoxed by the issue you could google up site of one of that section's authors, Prof. Rube Goldberg. I believe he has drawn up some schematic flowcharts to help users navigate through it.
