I'm working on a house where I have a 4:12 roof pitch and 12 feet tall walls. Now, when I'm checking my wind loading for the MWFRS to design my shear walls, I'm getting a positive pressure on the walls and a negative pressure for the roof. When I've had this situation before, I've always just been conservative and used the minimum loading for the walls and roof (when the design wind load is less than 10 psf - usually only for zone c and d). I'm wondering what others have done for these situations - can I just neglect the roof pressure since it is a negative pressure at the design wind speed (the wall positive pressure is greater and controls). Or should I still check it with the minimum roof pressure in the same direction as the walls? I haven't been able to find anything to clarify this offhand.
