In the new crane load standard Table 2a
references the "characteristic vertical load displacement."
"calculated statically from the elasticity of the crane and its supporting structure and teh roam system using the appropriate maximum gross load value without amplifying factors"

I take this as the vertical deflection of the loaded crane.

It seems the more rigid or smaller the crane, the worse this factor of safety becomes.
Eg a small >1T jib with limited deflection gets put into HC4 and a basic hoist into HD4 I calculate out to nearly 1.3 then the addition of yP of 1.34 the design load is 50% higher than under the old 1418.2002

Am I getting this way wrong?? anyone know of any PD/webinars etc relating to this new standard or the equiv ISO
