I save the cross section as a dxf, open it, then get section properties. There might be a better way, but I know this one works.

If you want to know the area you can do it in a model field. Choose Tools, Measure, point the surface. You can use Section view to getthe section what you need.

I section part at the required point, hit the tick to confirm then select the sectioned face, go to Tools, Section Properties. It will then display the cross-sectional area.
