Amazing that more people weren't hurt... My most furvent hopes for a safe return of the missing to their families.

What do you all think; 1970s construction, archival loads.... Perhaps a pattern load case that was never intended? Perhaps a shear issue throught the slabs; There have been many changes to shear calculations, particularly in slabs and regarding drop pans over the last couple of decades!

May we all be spared from such a catastrophy in our lives as well as our careers...

Two people are still missing after the collapse of the city archive building in the German city of Cologne on Wednesday morning. They are two residents and two passengers of a car which was buried under the rubble. Two adjoining buildings were brought down in the collapse, and some passers-by were slightly injured.

The Cologne city archive was housed in an historic four-story building. The building collapsed into a 28-metre-deep hole, which may have been caused by nearby construction work on an underground rail-link. "
