Arc Spray to Face of Thrust Collar Base Metal : SS304

We need to repair face of Thrust Disc with details below.
Thrust Dis Material : SS 304

OD of Disc: 275 mm
Thickness of flange : 28.50 mm
Coating Thickness : 1 mm
Service provider suggested to use SS420 wire. Now we need to verify the compatibility of coating material with base material SS304 based on the standard ASME Section II.

• Is this SS420 Wire is compatible with the base material SS304?
• Based on the standard ASME Section II is it acceptable to use the SS420 wire for the coating on SS304 Material?

What is the purpose of the overlay?
This isn't a code issue it is an application issue.
If this isn't a pressure boundary the Code doesn't care.
What was on it before?
Did it work?
I hope that the loads are very low.
304 is soft and makes a poor substrate.
