Can anybody recommend a procedure for filling a new Deep groove ball bearing with grease that has metal shields both sides. FAG type bearing. Thought of removing one of the seals, but not sure if i will damage the shield.

may have to Order them with what you want.

Some shields and seals mount with rubber lips that snap into grooves machined in the outer race and are pretty removeable using the tip of a dull pocket knife. Others do not and will be damaged by removal. Does you application need both seals? Some don't.

Removing and reinstalling the shield is only half of the problem. How did you plan on efficiently removing the existing grease?

I've found it's better to just buy new bearings packed as required.
