API Affiliation

I'm interested in becoming involved with (if it exists...) my local API membership. Is anyone aware of such a group? Can you lead me to the affiliation process?

API is an organization of petroleum companies - ExxonMobil, BP, Motiva, etc. Become employed by one and you can represent them and become involved. Otherwise, just come to the meetings, observe as a visitor, befriend some members, etc. If you find a committee or group you would like to participate in, apply for membership and get started. The API web site has meeting locations and dates. What is your interest? (tanks, valves, offshore, testing, piping, metering, etc)

Membership in API is corporate, they don't have "individual" memberships. And I'm not aware of them having local chapters the way ASME does.

Thanks, my interest is in tanks. I've enlisted my company with corporate membership, and contacted the closest (200 miles away) API chapter. I'm interested in expanding my network of resources and seeking mentorship opportunities outside my small circle and internet forums. You guys are always great though, thanks.

API chapters promote fellowship and professional development of their members through the exchange of operational experience, operations oriented meeting programs, and a variety of educational, industry service and community service projects.

Ahh - I see. No chapters within 1000 miles of me (on the border of NJ and PA) so I'll just go to the SCAST conferences. Good luck to you and I hope to see you there some day.
