Hello everyone,
API 673 states this paragraph about fans for petroleum industries:
"Shafts shall be one piece, forged steel, heat-treated after rough machining. Shafts 200 mm (8 in.) in diameter and
smaller may be machined from hot rolled steel. All shafts shall be stress relieved after rough machining."
I need to know whether the standard is requiring us to do heat treatment on the shaft in addition to stress relieving, or stress revealing itself is considered heat treatment and it suffices. (our shaft is larger than 200mm dia)
if its the first case, what type of heat treatment is usually required in addition to stress relieving?
Thanks in advance.
