Hi all,

for one of our projects, we need to perform detailed engineering for the Tank API650 design.
What is your suggested software for the calculations? Is there any excel sheet for the calculations?

Hi MOHSEN,

The best software is your brain.. try to develop your own spread sheet , math-cad and be proud with your own program .. I know AMETANK but not sure is the best or not..

Hi Mohsen,

For tanks, excel sheets are more preferred way to go, specially for detail design. if you don't have time to prepare then more common software are Tank, AME tank or autopipe vessel.

MathCad works for me, and it prints out well for clients. Same for BlockPad. The best part? Learning it all, understanding the equations, seeing the SI and Imperial equations become the same, etc. I don't like Excel because it is hard for even the creator check, nearly impossible for anyone else to really check and it does not (by itself) understand units so converting between SI and Imperial does not work, etc.
