I have heard of modified concrete over lays for concrete bridges.

Has anyone heard of flexible concrete being used in buildings?

RE...that article was written by someone who doesn't have any idea what he's talking about. The "flexible" concrete that the Oregon DOT has researched is simply polymer modified concrete. Some has silica fume added, some not. They have research polymer modified concrete for patching and overlays at least since the early 1980's. No definitive conclusions other than the typical research reports that show better repair performance from PMC.

The article implies that there is a "new" material to solve all the ills of rigid concrete. Not so.

In general, polymer modified concretes are not used in full section because of cost and long term material properties. Although not fully studied, long term creep in polymer modified concretes is anticipated to be higher than in conventional concretes. Most PMC applications are thin toppings and repairs.
