I've got a big problem in relation to cleaning dross and other contaminants from the inside of small bore tubes.
We laser cut patterns into 304L stainless steel tubes of .017 inch internal diameter. We are having problems cleaning the dross and other contaminants from the inside of the tube. Currently we are pumping cleaning solution through the tube as well as using ultrasonics in the rinse baths. We are not having much success however.
Anyone got any suggestions?
I have experience using ferric chloride as a cleaning agent for removing oxides in other cleaning applications. Have not tried it here yet.
Any help/theories greatly appreciated.
Best regards,
Dragon.

Have you tried to "double burn" the ID?

Hi,you say you are using ultrasonics to clean your tubes.
Two points here:
1.Ultrasonics do not work very well in flowing fluid,it kills the cavitation process, so make sure the tube is full of fluid, then ultrasonic it.
2.Have you got the right fluid?.Standard ultrasonic cleaning fluid will not de-grease, you may need a different cleaning fluid.Give me some time and I will check what type of fluid you need to use.
