I may have an opportunity to work with some folks in Sydney, and read briefly that Australia appears to be in a bit of an infrastructure boom. Anybody heard anything about that?

What's the business and regulatory climate down there?

Agree with Greg. "They" say we are better off than other countries, but it is patchy. Regulatory? We've got it all.

In my opinion there is a bit more of an emphasis on health and safety than in the US though this depends a bit on the state (each state has their own H and S authority).

As long as your degree meets the washington accord it will be valid over there though you may need to register to practice in some states.

I believe the unions are also a bit stronger in Australia and the workers are much better paid than your average US or mexican worker so this does effect construction methods e.t.c.

Al in all I would say 90% of your skills are transferrable with the rest being able to learn on the job
