Hi there folks,

So I recently had a project (bearing wall - reinforced masonry) where the owner/architect did whatever they wanted and introduced quite a bit of openings to one of the elevations. I decided to verify my shear walls and they are now inadequate for strength. My proposed solution was to convert the wall into a composite wall by adding a solid 4" CMU wythe w/ grout + ties. As I mostly work with RCC/Steel, the hand calculations took too long for me. Is there any software out there capable of modeling and analyzing composite masonry. I currently have Tedds, ETABS, and SAP at my disposal but couldn't really use any of them.

Thank you

The excellent book "Masonry Structural Design", by Richard E. Klingner contains output from a number of spreadsheets, which are easily replicatable (if that's a word). I don't know that it necessarily has the exact spreadsheet you're looking for but it would be a good place to start nonetheless.

Sounds like extra services to me.

Verify the upcharges with the owner before proceeding.

Owner paid for the changes. I'm just looking for something to speed the process up in the event that it occurs next time.
