Further to previous post:
1) The 1/4 lambda Marconi antenna is not actually "grounded at one end" (as stated in the above quotation), it is actually fed 'against' the ground. Apologies for not catching that error earlier.
2) If a 1/4 lambda Marconi antenna were fed against a 1/4 lambda counterpoise (as suggested by the above quotation), then it basically becomes a dipole (or a Hertz antenna).
