Hello,

I am currently attempting to model a hollow machine shaft which is supported at either end via roller bearings. The shaft itself is 36mm diameter with a wall thickness of 2mm. The shaft is radially loaded at three points along its length,at each load point a lubricant point (hole) also exists.

I have run an initial beam model with the end points fully constrained (all dof removed) which concurs with results achieved via hand calculations. I am now going to attempt to create a solid model but am unsure of the best element type.

I am considering solid45 solid186 and possibly a shell element. I need to consider the holes at some point which I dont think I can accurately do with shells.

Any advice would be welcomed!
