Hi everyone - new to this forum and also pretty new to laser cutting. We recently purchased a LCV 3015 Bll machine and shortly after having the external mirrors all calibrated one of the Blowers died. We replaced the blower and have started the aging process for the gas. Everything going fine until we go to 1500 watts and then we started to get an 053 alarm on the oscillator (cathode overheating). We were instructed to clean the water strainer between the chiller and laser and have just done so (it looked really clean). The chiller temperature seemed pretty stable and we are unsure if anything else could be causing this problem.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Richard

first thing you have to do is check to make sure all the cooling fans are working. I am not at work till Monday, so I can't look it up. The fans on a Fanuc c2000 are in front of plasma tubes. Then there are fans in back up high on the heat exchangers. the DC Power supplies have them in the front. The RF Power supplies have 2, front and back. You will usually get a 4063 error (or older I forget which) if those fans stop working. That has a Fanuc laser right? if it is water cooled, make sure the water lines going to it have flow. sometimes they clog with debris or corrosion if the water isn't kept at right ph level and doesn't have corrosion inhibitors. Newer fanucs don't use heat transfer fluid, but i think the 2000 does. Ours does anyway, but it is not an amada system. also make sure you have a good tune and good mode at say 500 watts, if way out, you could get beam to be really hot in spots in resonator. I have seen glass break from bad tunes in older slow flow lasers. never in a fanuc, but it is possible i guess.

good luck, I am anxious to see what others have to say here. some really smart guys on here.

Thanks for the advice. I have just talked to the previous owner and he said to take the top covers off and that we would find a bunch of bright green hoses. He said we need to disconnect the hoses one by one and blow air through them (apparently they have very small holes that can clog up and cause the issue...) sounds like it's worth a shot, what are your thoughts?

Cheers

sounds like the previous owner is familiar with this issue. I would do that for sure.
