I have a piece of round stock 6061 T6 Aluminum, 3/8" in diameter. I am going to cut the round stock into inch long segments at a 45 deg. angle. I want to weld the inch long segments along the 45 cuts such that the two pieces form an "L".

What type of geometry weld should I use?

Thanks,

Jose

What weld technique are you using?

A bevel weld will give you better penetration, try it with ER4043 rod.

I would bevel the outside corners and put a fillet weld on the inside. Weld the outside first. Using this technique you can grind to standard size.
