Aluminum Corrosion

The aluminum siding and door framing on my trailer is experiencing severe pitting from what I suspect is galvanic corrosion. I can also detect a small current to ground from the trailer even with the power disconnected, which I assume is from galvanic cell potential betwen the aluminum and the steel frame being in contact. Am I on the right track and what might be a possible solution?
I was told grounding the trailer frame will drain off the current and might reduce the corrosive action. Does this make sense?

Grounding would have no effect. The galvanic couple is local and comes into play only where the steel and aluminum are in contact in a conductive media. It is probably impossible to re-engineer the door so that the aluminum and the steel are not in electrical contact. If that is the case, try keeping the vulnerable aluminum dry or coated with something like WD-40.
