We have pressure equipment made from AISI 1040 (G10400) bar. I need to check the pressure design. Does anyone know where to get design stress values for 1040 to use with ASME calculations?

Thanks

Hi Kevin,
Since you have done your homework, you know the ASME II-D doesn't list the bar material. Accordingly, you cannot have an ASME endorsed design on a material not listed for use in ASME VIII (aka ASME II-D).
However, you can calculate an allowable design stress per ASME VIII and use the formulae of ASME VIII, but you are liable for the design. Obviously, you are also limited by ASME VIII, UG-14.
Cheers,
