Hello All

We have a system described in the attached photo. We want to charge the system and increase its pressure into 35 psig so we can make a leak test on system flanges.

We have 3/4 plug connection where we want to connect it into a portable air compressor.

How can we calculate the compressor capacity required to raise the system pressure into 35 Psig. The system doesn't have isolation points except for the valve shown in drawing upstream of the plug, so it is not possible to charge the system and hold the pressure & make pressure decay test

Description of system in brief : we have 3" straight pipe, the pipe will connect into 2" ring manifold, and in the manifold we have 14 branches "hoses" (each 3/4"). at the end of each hose there is 1/4" orifice. The system will be tested offline, so there is no back pressure on the downstream of the orifices

Thanks

I would just use 14 x the flow of one 1/4” orifice at 35 psig, and ignore the pressure drop in the pipe and fittings, to estimate the compressor capacity needed.

Good Luck,
