Our designs are typically built in California, with our structures placed on a layer of aggregate road base. Among other requirements, our aggregate road base is specified as coarse aggregate, consisting of material with a minimum 25 percent by weight of crushed particles as determined by Test Method No. Calif. 205. As we build similar designs in other states, we feel awkward specifying a test method by a foreign jurisdiction. As In its scope, the test document states, "This test describes a procedure for determining the percent, by weight, of particles that, by visual inspection, have the characteristics of crushed aggregate."
The test can be found at:

Question: How can I ensure the same standard, or one similar in other states? I'm not aware of an AASHTO equivalent.
