I've been using an older concrete textbook on a project (Park & Paulay, 1975) because it has an in-depth review of obscure design issues (moment-curvature, corner reinforcing, etc...). It reads more like a summary of current research papers and concrete behavioral theories rather than just an explanation of current code requirements.

Does anyone have a good concrete textbook on advanced concrete topics that's maybe more modern than 1975? I have recent versions of MacGregor & Wight, Hassoun, and Nawy, but they just don't cut it for more obscure topics (although MacGregor & Wight is my favorite for common topics). Something modern that covers moment-curvature and compression field theory would be nice.

Thanks!

"Design of Concrete Structures" by Nilson, Dolan, and Darwin covers both of the topics you mention. I have the 11th and 14th editions of the textbook. The 14th edition, copyright 2010, is based on ACI 318-08. I have found this textbook strikes a good balance between elementary theory and more advanced topics.

Thanks. 13th edition copies are less than $20.

Anyone else?
