Hello

I'm really thankful for my questions being answered here in Adams (Automotive) so fast and immaculately .

i'm implementing 4 hydraulic cylinders on the suspension of a car and intend Adams and Simulink to co-simulate ...

my question here is that :

I intend to co-simulate a model in Adams/Car and MATLAB/Simulink/Simscape ...

I know that i need to define state variables first ...

1- The problem is that i don't know how to define state variables in Adams/Car and i looked everywhere in the tabs and found nary a thing ...

2- I even tried Importing my model to Adams/Template Builder so i can define state variables but the only way that i can take that model to Adams/Template Builder is via import/export and when i do that the Build Tab is hidden and i can't change a thing ....

3- also when i import the model to adams view , my springs and dampers disappear ...

Would you please help ...

Greetings.
To create a state variable in Adams Сar is possible. (Build - System Elements - State Variable - New). You are saying that there is a problem with importing / exporting files. The first thing I can offer, if you haven't tried it yet, switch to the "Adams View Interface" and try to create it in the usual way via the top menu. Or simply without creating anything, return to the Template Builder mode. The "Build" tab should become active. And yes, could you clarify in which format you are trying to import the file? (.cmd, .x_t or something else?)

thank very much you for your answer ...

sorry that I didn't clarify …

when I said I didn't know how to create a "state variable" in Adams/Car I ment in "the standard interface" … i know how to create one in adams template builder …

so I should rectify my questions :

1- to create state variables in Adams standard interface , I must switch to template builder or Adams/view Interface … so I don't have any other way to do it in the standard interface itself ???

2- when I did what you implied the following error comes up while importing to Adams/car template builder :

ERROR: ---------------------------------------------------------------------
ERROR: Error detected on line number 24973, character 31 of a.cmd.
ERROR: The Function 'SYMMETRY' already exists.
ERROR: The command was not executed.
ERROR: &> function_name = .SYMMETRY &
ERROR: ---------------------------------------------------------------------

however when i did what you said about switching to adams view the problem with the springs and damperswas solved ... ( thanks )

is it a fatal error and is it going to make troubles in the future full-car runs ??? ( my file format is cmd )

thank you very much

sorry for my many questions and not being transparent enough as always ...

Other ways to create a variable are available. Alternatively, use the Tools menu - Command Navigator - data_element - create - variable.
Regarding the error “... ERROR: The Function 'SYMMETRY' already exists. ERROR: The command was not executed .... &. ". If you have a function called SYMMETRY, then try renaming it. Perhaps a similar function is provided in the default adams, so a conflict occurs.
