Hello,

I am currently simulating the engagement behavior of a chain and would like to accurately model the play between the chain link and the bolt. Using a rev joint is not suitable for this purpose. Similarly, a bushing is not ideal, as I cannot define a spline for the stiffness.

I noticed that Adams View 2023 now includes nonlinear bushings, and I hoped this feature would work for my application. Unfortunately, it is not behaving as expected. While I can define the stiffness curve, the reaction forces do not change accordingly.

Are there any alternative solutions, or could someone possibly assist me with my approach?

Thank you very much for your help.

"Adams View 2023 now includes nonlinear bushings" Been there since 2002,, if not before

They work, and your approach , with a low stiffness around zero length, is robust. Therefore you need to write requests for force and displacement across the non linear bush to check that the spline is working. Chances are you've left linear selected, put the splines in the wrong axes, or something else. Perusal of your model in the graphical topology tool may give you some idea. Alternatively export your .adm file and post it here.
