Is anyone aware of a reference that suggests
what accelerations are encountered during truck transport?

vannschro,

You may wish to try MIL-STD 810F. Basic Transportation in accordance with 514.5C-1 (highway truck vibration exposure). Frequency range: 5 – 500 Hz.
This standard can be downloaded from ASSIST-Quick Search
(

Absolutely. I forgot about that site. I had looked into what they were doing when I was involved in a test/analysis project for rail impact. Your work is more concerned with the accelerations from ride motions over the road than transportation impacts, right? If not, then I might have some more resources.

I am not familiar with the Telcordia GR63-CORE specification. I found this reference related to the specification: It seems to be specific for telecommunication and related systems.

What is it you are trying to test?

Thank you Matthew. Sorry, I have taken so long to respond to your comments.

You are correct, ride motions were my primary concern.

With regards to the Telcordia GR63-CORE, I agree it appears to be directed towards telecomunications equipment. But, the same type of trucks and trailers are utilized and I would argue that the accelerations that they suggest are valid for other equipment.

We have had some problems with connections loosening during shipping and handling of a particular product. In operation, the machine is used to sort packages. It is relatively low volume product and we are not in a position to examine the issue fully in terms of random vibration.

I was simply trying to get a feel for what kind of maximum acceleration magnitudes are encounted during truck transport.

From what I have gathered, the maximum is in the neighborhood of 3G's.

Best regards,

Steve
