Every line, etc is appearing to be very thin, also because I am sitting 4 to 5 feet away.

I s there any setting in ACAD to thicken up everything?

Use plot preview.

Yes, but to actually work on it, in model space, it is difficult.

Try the LINEWEIGHT window. You can display the plotting weights of the lines or there is also an ability to scale the weights from min-to-max with standard in the middle.
