Hi all, I have been trying to do an indentation test with ABAQUS using the cohesive zone to conduct pillar splitting. So far I could not manage getting out of convergence problem. Thinking of having contact problem during indentation I have started trying solely indentation test (without cohesive zone). Still I am facing convergence problems or the jobs abort without mentioning any specific error. Can anyone please help me on that?

Check the warning messages, try enabling automatic stabilization, refine the mesh in the contact area, use displacement control if forces are applied, make sure that there are sufficient boundary conditions (no underconstraint) and so on. It's hard to say more without seeing the model.

The "only-indenttion" model in "3D-6-fold.cae" file runs to completion. The other ones are not axisymmetric and involve cohesive behavior which can be the reason of non-convergence. Another thing is that there is large deformation in the axisymmetric model. Maybe you should start with lower values of prescribed displacement and then proceed to larger ones if there are no issues.
