Hi, I am currently modelling generalized plane strain problem. My purpose is to apply and fix the out-of-plane strain in the entire simulation(33 direction).
Refer to Abaqus manual, I set a reference point in Part>Tool>reference point and inputed the fixed out-of-plane strain in Creat Section>generalized plane strain by assigning the thickness of reference point. The generalized plane strain element was used in Mesh. But when I checked out the results, I found that the out-of-plane strain varied in every step instead of keeping constant.

Thanks so much!

Don't you just want 'plane strain' in this case? Generalized plane strain assumes the same, but necessarily constant, out of plane strain everywhere.

Thanks for your answer! I think plane strain condition assumes the out-of-plane strain to be zero everywhere, my purpose is to let the out-of-plane strain to be some fixed value. So how can I make it possible? Thank you!

You need to just restrain the rotation of the reference point/plane. In that way the out of plain displacement (strain) remains constant but not zero. If I recall, this means manually editing the inp file to get the correct dof. Check the manual for the rotational dof to restrain. You don't assign a thickness to the reference point as that makes no sense. Generally you need generalised plane strain in thermal strain analyses otherwise you just use plain strain.
