I was wondering if the pavement thickness (determined using AASHTO Rigid pavement equation)has a direct relationship with the concrete modulus of elasticity.
The concrete modulus of elasticity is estimated to be around 57000(f'c)^0.5. Therefore, the higher the compressive strength, the greater the concrete modulus of elasticity. The greater the concrete modulus of elasticity, the thicker the concrete pavement I obtained (meaning thicker pavement is required for higher strength concrete?)
Shouldn't this be the opposite instead? The stiffer the concrete (high modulus of elasticity), the less pavement thickness is required. I doubled check with another CE Manual, and I get the same result. Can someone confirm this? Any tips would help. Thank You.
