I have a rotary calciner from mid 60s made from A-212 steel. Not finding any information regarding max operating temperature of the shell. We routinely run 800F on hot spots on the shell and there is a desire to run harder and reinsulate the shell which will further escalate temperatures. ASTM report says the plate is stress relieved at 1100 - 1200F. Any thoughts on max operating temperature. A-212 was discontinued in 1967.

A-212 was replaced by A-515 and A-516. The A-515 will be a suitable replacent at 800F. Much hotter, you may need a low alloy steel like C-1/2 Mo.
