We are designing a Caustic Tower with 18% caustic solution and 1000ppm H2S, Cl less than 50ppm. Which materials is better for the metallurgy of trays? Our previous seletion is 410S. I am thinking the reason for the seletion of 410s.

How to evaluate the corrosion rate for these two materials at caustic and H2S condition?

please advice. thanks.

Best information if you can is to run test coupons of 304 and 410 in-situ if you have an existing tower in service.

I would be thinking about using 410 or a real ferritic, such as low carbon 430. I wouldn't see 304 as a good alternative.
